Spacenotes Inc. ("Spacenotes," "we," "our," or "us") makes Kaleida – an iOS app that helps you think through complex topics using AI‑generated content. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Core Privacy Principles

On‑device by default. Your prompts, answers, and other content are saved locally on your device. If you back up to iCloud, a copy lives only in your personal backup. We do not run a production database of your content.1.2 Data Residency. Your content inside the App is stored locally on your device. If your iCloud backups are enabled, a copy is stored within your personal iCloud account. Spacenotes does not maintain a production database of your content and cannot retrieve it for you.

No model training on your data. We do not use your content to fine‑tune or improve any AI model. We do not use your content to fine‑tune or improve any AI model.

No ads or data sales. Kaleida is monetised through free and paid tiers, not by selling or renting your information.

You control deletion. Uninstalling the app (and deleting it from your iCloud backup, if any) removes your content. We cannot do this for you because we don't store your content on our servers.

2. Information We Collect

Account basics. When you sign in we store your email address, together with your Apple purchase receipt and subscription tier. This information stays in the secure iOS keychain on your device and is not transmitted to Spacenotes‑controlled servers.

Subscription data. Our payment partner RevenueCat maintains the purchase receipts, renewal status, and price tier linked to a hashed app‑user ID (or, if provided, your email). We consult this data only to confirm your subscription status and handle billing issues.

Usage analytics. Kaleida sends pseudonymous event data—such as which screen you opened or which button you tapped—to Mixpanel. These events are tied to a random identifier.

User content. Your prompts, answers, reflections, and any attachments live on your device. If you back up to iCloud, they are included in your personal encrypted backup. We don't copy this content to our servers.

AI requests. Each prompt is routed through a secure proxy to the OpenAI API. OpenAI deletes request logs within 30 days or less after they are retained for abuse monitoring.

Diagnostics. If you opt in, Apple shares anonymised crash logs and error traces with us so we can fix bugs and improve stability.

We do not collect precise GPS location, biometric identifiers, your address‑book contacts, or any metadata that could identify the people you mention in your content.

3. How We Use Information

Operate the service. Generate AI content, maintain subscriptions, provide support.

Analytics & product improvement. Aggregate Mixpanel metrics help us understand feature usage and app health. We never attach these metrics to your content.

Security & compliance. Detect abuse, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our Terms.

4. How We Disclose Information

We do not sell or rent your information. We do not "share" personal information as the term is defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We disclose only to:

  • Service providers acting on our instructions: Apple, RevenueCat, Mixpanel (pseudonymous analytics), a secure AI routing provider, OpenAI. Each provider may use the data solely to provide its service to us.

  • Legal or safety reasons when we believe disclosure is required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety, to the extent that we have the ability to provide that information.

  • Corporate transactions if we sell or merge the business (your data stays subject to this Policy).

5. Your Choices & Rights

Delete your content by uninstalling the app and deleting any Kaleida data in your iCloud backup.

Unsubscribe from marketing emails: click Unsubscribe at the bottom of any email (we rarely send them).

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or export account basics. Email hello@spacenotes.app to make a request. Because we don’t store your content, we cannot provide copies of it.

If you reside in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data‑protection supervisory authority.

6. International Transfers

We are a U.S. company. If you live outside the United States, your information (e.g., prompts sent to OpenAI or analytics sent to Mixpanel) may be processed in the U.S. We rely on contractual safeguards consistent with GDPR/UK GDPR for these transfers.

7. Data Retention

On‑device content persists until you delete the app or reset/erase your device.

Mixpanel analytics are retained for up to 24 months, then aggregated or deleted.

RevenueCat subscription records are retained for the duration of your active subscription and as required for accounting and tax compliance; then deleted or anonymised.

Proxy request logs are retained by our AI routing provider for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted automatically.

OpenAI logs are deleted automatically by OpenAI within 30 days.

8. Children

Kaleida is not directed to children under 13 in the United States, or to anyone under the age of digital consent where they live (typically 13–16 in the EU and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has provided personal information without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. We will also delete any analytics or subscription records we hold about that child. Parents or guardians who believe this has occurred can contact us at hello@spacenotes.app to request deletion.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. For material changes we will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify you at least 14 days in advance via an in‑app banner, notice on our website, or other commercially reasonable means. The “Last updated” date reflects the effective date.
